ARCHES Speaker Series: Reflections on Two Years of ADUs in Tucson

This gathering will bring together planning, policy, and design experts to discuss Tucson’s experience with its recently adopted accessory dwelling unit (ADU) ordinance. Since January 2022, Tucson has allowed property owners to construct an ADU (an additional, independent housing unit) on any residential parcel in the city. Other cities in Arizona and around the region are considering similar ordinances to diversify housing options and address housing shortages. At this event, through two panel discussions, we will explore the successes and challenges Tucson has experienced since legalizing ADUs. 

The event is part of the Arizona Research Center for Housing Equity and Sustainability (ARCHES) Speaker Series. ARCHES is a HUD-funded Housing Research Center of Excellence, formed in partnership with the Morrison Institute at ASU and the Drachman Institute at University of Arizona, as well as faculty from NAU and UNM. With the support of the grant, refreshments are provided. The event is free and open to the public, but prior registration is requested.
